- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup peas
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Peel, chop, and boil potatoes until tender. Mash and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the ground beef and drain excess fat.
- Add onions, carrots, and peas. Cook until vegetables soften, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in beef broth, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the beef mixture into a baking dish and spread evenly.
- Top with mashed potatoes, smoothing to cover the filling.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with lamb for a traditional Shepherd’s Pie.
- Use fresh or frozen vegetables as per availability.
- Add grated cheese on top for extra flavor.
